Institution of Engineering & Technology

Vianair Inc. named as one of 2019’s top innovators

NYC-based Vianair Inc. has been announced as a finalist by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for their 2019 Innovation Awards. The Awards celebrate the most pioneering engineering and technology innovations across 15 sectors, from energy and sustainability to transport and healthcare.

Chosen from over 360 entries, Vianair Inc. was shortlisted for the Safety Tech award in recognition of the Vianair Airspace Information Model (AIM) platform. Vianair AIM combines the functions of Design, Performance Evaluation and Optimization in a single parametric model addressing the airspace design and planning process from a holistic perspective and making the instant evaluation of all performance trade-offs possible, while accounting for design rules and criteria for safety. The proposed innovation will enable airport authorities, airlines and air navigation service providers in the US and worldwide to more efficiently plan, design and manage airspace and airports systems, facilitating the seamless sharing of information between stakeholders, ultimately enabling the transition of the air traffic management system into the future and entailing significant benefits for the traveling public and the local communities.

“Vianair bridges the gap between airspace design proposals and their implementation by enabling the holistic evaluation of such proposals at design-time, while taking into account aircraft performance, fuel burn, delays, and environmental considerations, such as emissions and noise impact. Vianair AIM transitions the airspace design and planning process into the future and has the potential to lead to significant benefits for society”, said Stavros Sidiropoulos, Vianair’s Founder and CEO.

Panellist and IET Events Group Manager, Tanya Spencer, said: “The IET’s distinctive Innovation Awards celebrate the very best in new innovations in science, engineering and technology from around the world. Not only do the Awards put them in the spotlight, but play a crucial role in helping them advance their crucial work.

“All the finalists’ entries have a game-changing impact on society, improving the way we live and work. We are immensely proud to recognise, celebrate and show our support for these exceptional achievements and wish Vianair Inc. the best of luck at the Awards ceremony.”

Vianair Inc. will join other finalists in London on 13 November, at a prestigious awards dinner and ceremony. Host for the evening, journalist, presenter and comedian, Alex Brooker, will announce the winners.
